You glowed as bright as any daytime star
When I was close, I shone and sparkled, too.
Between us, now, the distance is so far
That I perceive no light nor heat from you

Continuing to wander in the dark
I cannot just emerge into your light
No, I must reach and find my inner spark
For otherwise my life is endless night

Somewhere inside, a star's awaiting birth
If only I could get the fire to start
Reclaim my self and reassert my worth
Regain my strength and heal my wounded heart

I must ignite the passion in my soul
Allow my daunted spirit to be whole

Annie, this may honestly be one of the most beautiful verses I've ever read. Strong and simple, it expresses such deeply-felt emotions so honestly and clearly. Fantastic work, my friend. Reputation to you!

Your poem is profound, Annie. Many people are absorbed by their partner's/lover's passion (or light) until they lose theirs. Regaining individuality takes courage and empowerment, which you've deftly portrayed here. Your imagery is strong and beautiful, without being flowery and I enjoyed your rhymes. Bravo! H x
